2013 Qualifying Exams for Incoming Freshmen

 

St. Teresa's Academy is committed to the placement of our students into challenging courses based on their mastery of skills. We offer incoming freshmen students who are registered for the Class of 2017 the opportunity to take qualifying exams in world language, mathematics and/or science.

There is no fee for qualifying exams, but students must pre-register. Click here to access the registration form.


Saturday, April 27, and Saturday, May 4, Donnelly Hall

8:00-9:00 am - World Languages
Students may take exams to move to Level 2 and Level 3 in French, Spanish or Latin. A qualifying score of 80% is required to move forward for all tests except College Spanish 3 which has a qualifying score of 90%. To find out more information, click on the following links:

9:15-10:15 am - Science
Students may test to move from Intro to Physics and Chemistry into Biology or Advanced Biology. Placement will be determined by score. To find out more information regarding the science exam, click here.

10:30 am-12:30 pm - Mathematics
Tests will be offered to move from Algebra I to Advanced Algebra I; Algebra I to Geometry or Advanced Geometry;  Advanced Algebra 1 to Advanced Geometry.  Any student wishing to enter STA at the Honors Algebra II level will need to coordinate placement with Admissions and the Math Department.  All math exams have a qualifying score of 70%.  To find out more information regarding the mathematics exams, click here.

 

Test results will be mailed to families in late May.
