STARS AT STATE

Cross Country Team is Going to State!
On October 31st, the Cross Country team competed at the Sectional Meet at Longview Community College.  The Stars finished 4th out of 8 teams, qualifying as a team for the State Meet in Jefferson City.  Congratulations to Caroline Thompson, Grace Krause, Anne Schwartz, Kathleen Hough, Addie Thompson, Kelly O'Byrne, Lane Schulte, Lane Maguire, Sarah Vickery and Courtney Coppinger, who will represent STA at State on November 7th.
 

The tennis team bounced back in the final round of the state tennis tournament, defeating Marquette 5-1 for the 3rd place team trophy. Senior Kylie Hornbeck earned all-state honors, finishing the individual state tournament in 6th place overall.




The STA golf team for won the 4th place team trophy at the state championships. Senior Casey O'Flaherty finished tied for second place individually, earning all-state honors.

In addition to the team trophies that will be displayed in the gym lobby, both teams will have a banner raised in the gym for their accomplishments!


The cross country team competed at districts on October 24th.  The Stars placed 6 runners in the top 30.  Finishers were Caroline Thompson (14th), Lane Maguire (22nd), Courtney Coppinger (23rd), Sarah Vickery (26th), Kelly O'Byrne (27th), Kathleen Hough (28th) and Addie Thompson (43rd.)  By finishing 4th as a team, all 7 racers will compete as a team in Sectionals.  The Sectional race is at 10:45AM on October 31st at Longview Community College.
 



The St. Teresa's tennis team defeated Liberty 5-2 and Park Hill 5-4 on Saturday, and have advanced to the state semi-finals in Springfield on Thursday. The team will play at 9 a.m., and the championships are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the Cooper Tennis Complex. Senior Kylie Hornbeck will also play in the state individual tennis tournament on Friday and Saturday.The STA golf team will be in state competition on Monday and Tuesday in Springfield.The cross country squad will be running districts at Ray-Pec on Saturday.The volleyball team earned second place at the Aquinas tournament on Saturday, and will travel to Sacred Heart on Monday to finish the regular season. District volleyball action will begin next week.

 

STA Golfers Finish 2nd at Districts, Team Qualifies for State
The St. Teresa's Academy golf team finished second place at districts with a team score of 333, breaking the previous school record by 12 strokes. Under extremely windy and chilly conditions, the team was just 2 strokes off of first place, while all five golfers qualified for the state tournament on Oct. 19-20. This is a huge accomplishment for these girls, and they have proven themselves to be real contenders for a state championship.District Results: Casey – 83, Nina – 83, Colleen – 84, Madalyne – 85, Alex – 90
