The cross country team competed in their first meet of the season last Saturday in Liberty.
The varsity team finished first out of eleven teams, with a second place finish by Lane Maguire and a third place finish by Courtney Coppinger.
The JV team finished third out of 8 teams, led by 9th place finisher Meghan Harper.
The sophomore team finished second out of six teams, with an individual win by Sarah Vickery and a third place finish by Hannah McCausland.
The freshman team finished second out of five teams, with an individual victory by Lindsey Valdiviez.
The cross country team will compete at the Ray-Pec Invitational on Saturday.

2009 STATE RESULTS:
CROSS COUNTRY TEAM BRINGS HOME 4TH PLACE
The cross country team finished 4
th out of 16 teams in the Missouri Class 4 State Championship on November 7. The girls battled the heat as well as the very challenging hills of the Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City. Congratulations to Caroline Thompson (39th place), Lane Maguire (50th), Kelly O’Byrne (61st), Kathleen Hough (62nd), Courtney Coppinger (67th), Sarah Vickery (79th), and Lane Schulte (108th). STA’s top five scoring runners finished within a span of only 35 seconds. The Stars brought home the sixth cross country state trophy in school history and the first since 1998.
Districts 2009
The cross country team competed at districts on October 24th. The Stars placed 6 runners in the top 30. Finishers were Caroline Thompson (14th), Lane Maguire (22nd), Courtney Coppinger (23rd), Sarah Vickery (26th), Kelly O'Byrne (27th), Kathleen Hough (28th) and Addie Thompson (43rd.) By finishing 4th as a team, all 7 racers will compete as a team in Sectionals.
