STA Opens Season With State Qualifiers and School Records
(12/15/09) The St. Teresa's Swim and Dive Team competed in the Blue Springs Relays on Dec. 11, to open the 2009-10 season. The athletes had a great meet to open the 2009-10 season, including state qualifying and record setting performances. The 200 Medley Relay of Peyton Gajan, Rachel Edmunds, Rose Hutchison and Caitlin Nelson qualified for the state meet in February AND also set a new school record. Peyton Gajan qualified for state in the 100 backstroke, and the 400 Free Relay of Caitlin Nelson, Jacqueline Kerr, Rose Hutchison and Peyton Gajan qualified for the state meet AND set a school record.
Practice begins Nov. 16. STA swimming practice will be held at Longview Community College.
HEAD COACH ANDY WILCOX: Coach Wilcox comes to STA after coaching the Lee’s Summit North Girls and Boys programs for the last 12 years. Before that, he coached the Girls and Boys programs at Truman High School. So, Coach Wilcox brings a broad base of experience in instruction and program development to the STA program. The Lee’s Summit programs have been very successful during Coach Wilcox’s tenure, regularly finishing in the top three each year in Suburban Conference competition. Coach Wilcox and his family live in Lee’s Summit. Coach Wilcox has hired an excellent staff to help him this season with the STA swimming and diving program.
