STA Sophomore on Championship Volleyball Team
Sophomore Taylor Migliazzo's league volleyball team, Kansas City Power, became the 2009 USA Volleyball Junior Olympic 16 Open National Champion in a tournament held in Miami, FL, in late June.
KC Power (16-1) finished the national tournament with a 9-0 match record and defeated TCA in the final championship match. KC Power is the first Kansas City & HOA Region team to win an Open National Championship! Congratulations to Coaches Mike & Danielle Stowell and Director/Coach Gwenn Pike on this tremendous and exciting accomplishment.
Taylor Migliazzo was also selected by Prepvolleyball.com as one of the top "Defensive Dandies" for 2009.
Here's what KC Power coach Mike Stowell had to say about the libero who has led Power to the top of the 16s national rankings: Taylor is the driving force behind our offense with her impeccable serve receive skills. She wants to pass every serve that comes over the net and leads the charge of running a balanced and temp driven offense. She passes incredibly well off line and when using her hands. Defensively, she frustrates opposing teams by consistently digging the extremely hard driven swings and then will follow that up by chasing down the most elusive of short tips. She is disciplined enough to hold her base when she's supposed to and makes difficult plays look effortless. Her hitters can swing away and know that she is always there to cover every swing. She is just as tough mentally and has a calming effect on her teammates.
Congratulations Taylor!
